Ukrainian businessman Aleksey Vadatursky died during the shelling of Nikolaev. This was announced in his Telegram channel by the head of the Nikolaev regional state administration Vitaly Kim.
In addition, the entrepreneur’s wife, Raisa Vadaturskaya, died. According to Kim, Nikolaev was shelled by the Russian army.
“Today our city lost its Hero. Aleksey Afanasyevich did a lot for the Mykolaiv region, a lot for Ukraine. His contribution to the development of the agricultural and shipbuilding industries, the development of the region is invaluable. So much has been done – so much could have been done,” Kim wrote (author’s spelling and punctuation retained).
Telegram channel Mash leads a different interpretation of the incident. According to him, the reason for the death of the businessman and his wife was the fall on the Vadatursky mansion of a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile of the S-300 complex.
The death of Vadatursky was also confirmed to Ukrayinska Pravda by a source close to the regional administration of the city. The interlocutor of the publication noted that on the night of July 31, a shell hit the businessman’s house. “The wife’s body has already been pulled out,” the source said.
Aleksey Vadatursky is the owner of the agricultural company Nibulon, which is engaged in the production and export of agricultural products, as well as shipbuilding and transportation. Ukrainian Forbes notes that in 2021, Nibulon set an absolute record in the entire history of the company, shipping more than 5.64 million tons of agricultural products to 38 countries.
According to the Forbes rating, the businessman’s fortune reaches $430 million. He was in 24th place in the ranking of the 100 richest Ukrainians. In 2007, Vadatursky received the title of Hero of Ukraine. The businessman was 74 years old.
