The world’s highest power lines received wires in China

Two 385-meter-high transmission towers, the tallest of their kind in the world, were connected on Monday by electric cables across the Yangtze River, Xinhua news agency reported on June 13.

According to Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd., a 500 kV power transmission project, 24 cables weighing about 410 tons and over 2.5 km long were laid between pylons over China’s busiest waterway.

“The workers were exactly like in the Spider-Man movie when they walked 330 meters above the river to install the wires,” said the company’s deputy project manager. Wang Zhangxuanadding that unmanned drones and robotics were also used in the installation process.
