The White House announced Biden’s plans to run for a new term

US President Joe Biden intends to re-claim the post of head of state in the elections to be held in 2024. This was announced by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on July 29 at a briefing broadcast on Twitter by the presidential administration.

“The President intends to participate in the elections in 2024. We are far from this, so I will not talk about particulars, as well as public opinion polls, because I am on this side of the podium, ”said Jean-Pierre.

Journalists were interested in the White House’s reaction to the recently released results of research on Biden’s ratings – in particular, a Morning Consult report commissioned by CNN, in which saidthat the incumbent’s disapproval index has reached 57%. For comparison, during the same period of Donald Trump’s presidency (2018), the disapproval index was four percentage points lower.

Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota declared Fox News that, in his opinion, Biden should not run for the presidency in 2024, because America needs “well-prepared, dynamic and active Democrats.”

Phillips explained that he respects the incumbent president, but believes that the White House needs new leadership, and expressed concern about Biden’s age (he is the oldest president in US history: he will be 81 by the next election).
