The Netherlands announced the rejection of the veto on EU enlargement

Member of the Dutch Parliament, member of the European Council for Foreign Affairs Kati Piri On June 22, she announced on her page on the social network that the Netherlands had changed its position on the issue of the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans into the EU.

Piri noted that Amsterdam will reconsider its traditional veto on the enlargement process and support the start of negotiations on the accession of Albania and North Macedonia to the EU, as well as support the proposal to Ukraine and Moldova of the status of candidate countries for membership.

“After years of following the policy of vetoing EU enlargement, the alignment in parliament is changing: it will support the candidacies of Ukraine and Moldova, approve the candidacy of Georgia after it fulfills the conditions, are ready to reconsider the issue of visa liberalization with Kosovo and support the start of negotiations on the accession of Albania and North Macedonia”.
