An earthquake in the Pacific Ocean with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale occurred in the northern Kuriles. It was recorded at 12:45 local time (04:45 Moscow time).
According to the Sakhalin branch of the unified geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 294 kilometers from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The depth of the seismic event source was 62 kilometers.
