The air in Beijing has become cleaner by 28.3%

Official data showed Beijing’s primary air pollution index fell 28.3% year on year in the first five months of 2022, Xinhua News Agency reported.

According to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environmental Protection, the average concentration of PM2.5 pollutant particles in the city from January to May was 33 micrograms per cubic meter. The indicator in May was 21 micrograms per cubic meter.

According to the bureau, PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide were at their best levels in the same five-month period in years since records began in 2013. PM2.5 readings reflect airborne particles with a diameter of 2.5 microns or less.
