The US State Department plans to hold talks with Moscow in the near term to resume inspections under START-3, said department spokesman Ned Price. About it writes RIA News”.
It is noted that on Tuesday, November 8, Bloomberg reported on the plans of Russia and the United States to return to negotiations on the resumption of inspections under the Treaty on the Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms. In particular, a meeting of the Bilateral Consultative Commission on START-3 may be held in Cairo.
“We have agreed to hold … a meeting in the near future,” Price said, commenting on the agency’s article on possible talks between nuclear powers.
A State Department spokesman explained that the talks would focus solely on aspects of the Nonproliferation Treaty. He expressed hope that the dialogue would be constructive and would allow the continuation of the inspections interrupted after the start of the JWO.
It should be noted that the agreement entered into force at the beginning of 2011. The parties pledged to reduce their nuclear arsenals to the values specified in the document and to ensure that the number of missiles and launchers does not exceed them.
