TASS: a new sighting system will increase the combat effectiveness of the Ka-52M helicopter
The upgraded reconnaissance and attack helicopter Ka-52M will receive a new sighting system that will expand the capabilities of the vehicle. About it TASS said a source in the military-industrial complex.
“The combat effectiveness of the Ka-52M helicopter will be significantly increased due to the installation of a modernized sighting system, which will expand the possibilities of using weapons at night. The range of detection and recognition of the target of the thermal imaging channel of the upgraded sight has been doubled,” he said.
The interlocutor of the agency noted that improvements were required based on the experience of operating the Ka-52 in Syriawhere helicopters were often used at night. In the Arab Republic, Ka-52 crews used Vikhr anti-tank guided missiles with a range of up to eight kilometers to hit targets.
The upgraded helicopter will be able to carry new guided weapons, and the range of existing missiles will be increased. “Work is underway to install the Safar radar station, and work is underway to increase the range of the Whirlwind missile to 10 kilometers,” the source said.
The agency noted that it does not have official confirmation of this information.
In September, a TASS source informedthat the upgraded Ka-52M received composite blades with a heating element.
