Kommersant: Turkish manufacturer of household appliances Vestel may resume production in Russia
Turkish household and professional appliance company Vestel may resume production in Russia in the short term. It became known “to the businessman”.
As Alexey Pogudalov, commercial director of Holodilnik.ru, told the publication, they planned to resume production in Alexandrov. He clarified that along with the release of its own products, the Turkish TV manufacturer also expects contract assembly. In particular, the plant used to produce equipment brands Whirlpool, Electrolux, Zanussi and others, he noted.
Another interlocutor of Kommersant confirmed that the company intends to “reactivate production in Russia.” At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of selling the capacities of a domestic company.
The newspaper recalled that the Vestel plant in Russia closed in March 2016 after a Turkish F-16 fighter jet in November 2015 knocked down over the territory Syria Russian Su-24 bomber. According to the Turkish side, this was done because the plane violated the border. The Russian military denies this fact. The company then explained that the decision to stop production was due to the economic crisis in Russia.
