The Cabinet of Ministers added 11 new members to the list of countries and territories unfriendly to Russia
Russian Government added 11 new members to the list of unfriendly countries and territories. All of them are British Overseas Territories that supported the introduced Great Britain sanctions, according to message on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
This is the British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean TerritoryCayman Island, Falkland Islands, island of Montserrat, Pitcairn IslandSaint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Akrotiri and Dhekelia territories on island of cyprus, Turks and Caicos Islands.
Previously, only three British overseas territories were recognized as unfriendly – Anguilla islandBritish Virgin Islands and Gibraltar. Now all 14 territories are included in the list.
Russia began compiling a list of unfriendly countries and territories back in 2018. The first to enter USA. In 2021, the right to introduce new participants was transferred to the government, the second member of the list was Czech. After the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine and responses from Western countries, the number of participants in the list has increased significantly. Currently, it hosts more than fifty countries, including the developed countries of the world.
The Russian authorities may impose various restrictive measures on the list participants. For example, companies from unfriendly countries at least until the end of the year prohibited transactions with shares of Russian strategic enterprises, as well as companies they own.
