The UK will ban the provision of services for the transportation of Russian oil from December 5

Great Britain will prohibit its companies from providing services for the transportation of Russian oil to third countries if the fuel is purchased at a price higher than the price limit set by Western governments, writes Reuters with reference to the statement of the Minister of Finance of the country Jeremy Hunt.

The measure will come into force on December 5 and will apply to any services of British companies, including cargo insurance, brokerage services and delivery.

“We have banned the import of Russian oil to the UK and have made significant progress in completely abandoning it,” the head of the Ministry of Finance stressed. He added that with the new ban, the British authorities continue to “tighten the screws” against Moscowin order to achieve a reduction in its income and funding for military operations.

At the beginning of June European Union and UK agreed about the joint introduction of a ban on insurance of ships with Russian oil, but in August London I decided postpone this step, although the EU had already introduced restrictions by that time. The decision of the British authorities could have been influenced by fears of a worsening global energy crisis, as well as the fact that Lloyd’s of London, the largest insurance market, is located in London.

Earlier, the UK banned ship insurance for tankers carrying Russian oil to the kingdom itself, the measure was supposed to come into force in 2023.
