The coach of the Russian national gymnastics team was outraged by the video of the IOC without mentioning the USSR and Russia
Senior coach Russian team in artistic gymnastics Valentina Rodionenko appreciated the video “The Evolution of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics”, which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made without mentioning Soviet and Russian athletes. Her words lead TASS.
Rodionenko said she was outraged by the IOC video. In her opinion, the video discriminates against the leaders of the world women’s gymnastics, which includes Larisa Latynina and other Olympic champions in the national teams of the USSR and Russia.
Formerly IOC published video dedicated to the development of women’s artistic gymnastics. It included cuts of performances by athletes from the Olympic Games from 1956 to 2008, which did not include representatives of the USSR and Russia.
At the end of February, most sports organizations suspended the Russian national teams and Belarus on the recommendation of the IOC. In particular, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) banned Russians from participating in competitions held under the auspices of the organization. Also, judges and officials from Russia are not allowed to work at tournaments.
