Irina Rodnina said that professional football clubs must provide for themselves
Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, MP State Duma Irina Rodnina responded to criticism after a proposal to close football clubs in Russia. Her words lead “Sport-Express”.
“I just expressed my opinion. We have the most sports schools in the country for football. The state supports this sport at the level of children’s football, ”Rodnina said, adding that professional teams should provide for themselves, and not rely on funds from the state budget.
Previously President of the Yekaterinburg “Ural” Grigory Ivanov appreciated Rodnina’s statement with the phrase “why she climbs into football.” He noted that football is the most popular sport, and no less money is allocated from the budget for figure skating.
November 10 Rodnina complained that domestic teams only know how to spend money and called for the closure of Russian football clubs. “If they haven’t learned how to earn money in 30 years, then something needs to be changed: management, or going bankrupt, or something else,” she was indignant.
