The Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Altai Territory detained a suspect in at least 11 reports of false mining

Police officers in Altai Territory detained a Russian on suspicion of involvement in at least 11 reports of false mining of social facilities. About it reported at the press center of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Altai Territory.

According to preliminary information, from January to September of this year, the suspect repeatedly reported mining shopping centers, office buildings, and social infrastructure facilities. To remain anonymous, he used software tools to replace his data.

“Messages were sent to different settlements not only in the Altai Territory, but also in other regions Russian Federationas well as beyond its borders,” the press service noted.

According to the police, the young man, having made a false report, through social networks and the media watched the reaction of the public, the work of law enforcement agencies and followed the statements of officials about “his” incidents.

During searches at the place of residence of the suspect, a cell phone was seized, which contains information related to the distribution of deliberately false messages about acts of terrorism.

The suspect is currently in custody and is making confessions. 11 criminal cases were initiated against him under article 207 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Knowingly false information about an impending explosion, arson or other actions that create a danger of death of people”).

A wave of false reports of mining in various Russian cities began in January 2022. The threats affected mainly schools, hospitals and courts, but were never confirmed.
