The Moldovan authorities decided to sue Gazprom for breach of contract
Authorities Moldova decided to sue the Russian company “Gazprom” due to breach of contract, reducing the volume of gas supplies to the republic. This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Spinutransmits RIA News.
According to him, lawyers are analyzing the possibility of applying sanctions for non-compliance with the contract in the matter of deliveries of the entire volume. “When it becomes clear, we will decide what actions to take and in what direction to move,” the minister said.
He added that the Russian company did not explain in any way its decision to reduce supplies to the republic, although Kishinev always pays for them.
In October 2021, Moldova succeeded reach an agreement with Gazprom on the extension of the contract for gas supplies, subject to an audit of the debt of Moldovagaz in 2022. To audit the government of the country hired two independent companies – the Norwegian Wikborg Rein Advokatfirma and the British Forensic Risk Alliance & Co.
