Il Messaggero: Italy suspends consideration of the sixth package of arms supplies to Ukraine
Italian authorities suspend consideration of new, sixth military aid package Ukraine, writes local newspaper Il Messaggero, citing government sources.
According to the publication, the suspension occurred due to the fact that first “it is necessary to coordinate the lists with NATO and delve into the details of military requests Kyiv”. AT Rome believe that based on the results of the work it will be clear what type of weapons the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) needs.
The newspaper added that a number of problems could arise with the supply of weapons. Italy does not have a sufficient number of SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) requested by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, therefore, if they are sent to Kyiv, Rome may lose its defense system. In addition, the Italian side has not yet fully delivered the weapons promised in previous packages.
Former Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio declaredthat the weapons supplied by Rome to the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot be used to destroy targets in the territory Russia.
