Spiegel: Germany and eight other EU countries presented a new package of sanctions against Iran
Germany along with eight other countries European Union introduced a new package of sanctions against Iran. On Saturday, November 5, reports the publication Spiegel citing own sources.
As it became known to the publication, the corresponding package was presented in Brussels last Wednesday, November 2nd. In total, it included 31 sentences relating to Iranian security organizations and individuals allegedly involved in the ill-treatment of participants in demonstrations taking place in the republic.
It is clarified that we are talking, in particular, about freezing the assets of Iranian representatives who fell under the sanctions, as well as introducing a ban on their entry into the EU.
Currently, the possibility of implementing the measures proposed in the package is being studied by lawyers. At the same time, Spiegel sources note that the foreign ministers of the EU countries may decide on a new sanctions list against Iran as early as November 14, when their meeting takes place.
Earlier, the EU imposed sanctions against 11 individuals and four legal entities of Iran, including the vice police. In response, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced retaliatory sanctions against EU organizations and media.
