Police detained suspects in the theft of 60 million rubles from the accounts of dead Russians
AT Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory and Republic of Crimea Interior Ministry officers detained nine people suspected of stealing funds from the bank accounts of deceased Russians. This was reported to Lente.ru by an official representative Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
The police, together with representatives of the bank security services, identified the alleged participants and the organizer of the criminal scheme. According to the police, they withdrew the money of the deceased citizens to controlled accounts and divided the stolen funds among themselves. The suspects managed to do this with the help of illegally obtained access to personal accounts of citizens’ mobile banks.
During the searches, 20 phones, five laptops, SIM cards, more than ten bank cards and a database with details of the accounts of the deceased were found at the defendants. The police consider them involved in at least 50 cases of theft in the amount of more than 60 million rubles.
Seven suspects have already been taken into custody, and ten criminal cases have been initiated against them under article 158 (“Theft”) of the Criminal Code (CC) RF. Two more are under house arrest, they are under article 183 (“Illegal receipt and disclosure of information constituting a commercial, tax or banking secret”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
