International conference “Wet archeology” will open in Tatarstan
November 1 in the exhibition hall of the National Library Republic of Tatarstan an international conference dedicated to the display of organic objects from the wet archaeological layer will open. About it informs Tatar-inform.
Wet archaeological layers are characterized by high moisture content and limited access to oxygen. Monuments with wet organic matter can be found in peat, in frozen soil, ice, silt, at the bottom of rivers and seas. Archaeologists can discover wooden buildings or entire city blocks, as in Veliky Novgorod or Sviyazhsk, sunken wooden ships and much more.
Since the exhibits require a special temperature and humidity regime, the objects from the excavation cannot be shown to the public. However, they can always be seen in the Sviyazhsk museum of the archaeological tree “Tatar Slobidka”. However, the exhibition “Wet Archeology” will feature interactive tables where you can select an object and outline it.
In addition, a photo zone will be organized for visitors. The creators reconstructed a small horse found during excavations in Sviyazhsk, you can take a picture on it.
The exhibition can be visited until January 30, 2023.
October in Tatarstan opened exhibition “Five Elements”, dedicated to the art of ceramics of the republic. The exposition presents more than 30 works by Natalia Pilyugina on the reconstruction of ceramic dishes from 1912–1925.
