Promise does not mean marriage: Aksyonov on the status of an EU candidate for Ukraine

Ukraine really wants to become a “beloved wife” in the European harem, but to promise is to marry. This is how the head of the Republic of Crimea commented on granting the status of an EU candidate to Ukraine Sergey Aksyonov in the telegram channel on June 24.

Zelensky called granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership as an “engagement.” Strange analogy. Apparently, I really want to become a “beloved wife” in the European “harem”. But in addition to the newly minted candidates, several more states are “engaged” to the EU, ”wrote Aksyonov.

The head of Crimea recalled that Turkey has been a candidate for EU membership since 1999, and North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Albania have been waiting for EU accession for many years.

“So another expression is more appropriate here: promising does not mean getting married,” Aksyonov emphasized.
