Voting ends in US midterm congressional elections (November 9, 2022)

Voting in the US midterm elections has ended.

According to TASS, at 08:00 Moscow time, the last polling stations located in the states of Alaska and Hawaii stopped receiving ballots.

According to the results of the vote, all 435 members of the House of Representatives of Congress and a third of the Senate will be elected. In addition, Americans elect the governors of 36 states and three US overseas territories.

According to preliminary calculations by The New York Times, Republicans will secure at least 173 seats in the House of Representatives and 46 in the Senate, Democrats – 114 and 45 seats, respectively. NBC predicts that Republicans will win 219 seats in the House of Representatives, while Democrats can count on 216 seats.

The results of the exit polls indicate that the majority of those who voted are dissatisfied with the policies of Democratic President Joe Biden, CNN notes. According to the study, 39% of respondents are not satisfied with the work of the current president, another 34% are angry.
