The turnover of Wildberries exceeded a trillion rubles (November 3, 2022)

In the nine months of this year, the turnover of the largest Russian online retailer Wildberries increased by 95% year-on-year, amounting to 1.1 trillion rubles.

The total number of orders reached 954.7 million, up 83% from the same period in 2021. In the third quarter of 2022, the marketplace’s turnover grew by 95% to a record RUB 420.2 billion.

“For the first time, the turnover of Wildberries has overcome the bar of 1 trillion rubles – we congratulate our sellers on this historic event,” the company’s press release says.

It is specified that the highest sales volumes for 9 months. 2022 marked in the categories of clothing, footwear and accessories (382.7 billion rubles, + 70% year-on-year); goods for home and summer cottages (159 billion rubles, + 136%); children’s goods (117.4 billion rubles, + 59%); household appliances and electronics (90.9 billion rubles, +93%), as well as cosmetics and perfumery (90.1 billion rubles, +94%).

“The turnover of Wildberries in the category of household appliances and electronics for the first time exceeded the figure for the segment of cosmetics and perfumes, which is associated with the expansion of the range and the growth of purchasing activity on the online platform,” the retailer’s press service explains.

Sales grew most dynamically in the categories of smart home and security (+259% yoy), building materials (+187%), photo and video equipment (+181%).

It is reported that the company invested 20.8 billion rubles in the development of infrastructure in the regions – the construction of new logistics centers, the opening of points for issuing orders – from January to September, and by the end of 2022, Wildberries plans to allocate about 9.4 billion rubles more for these purposes. .

“More than 25,000 new jobs have been created in the Leningrad and Tula regions, the Stavropol Territory, Udmurtia, the Moscow region and other regions of the country,” the press release emphasizes.

In the third quarter of the year, the retailer commissioned 200,000 sq. m. m of new warehouse space, according to Wildberries.

It is also noted that additional discounts for a total of RUB 140.3 billion were provided to customers, which made it possible to curb price increases in online segment and support entrepreneurs.
