Muscovites will be able to get to the MCD-1 station “Workers’ settlement” through the underground passage – Ovchinsky (November 1, 2022)

The transition through the Northern understudy of Kutuzovsky Prospekt in Moscow to the MCD-1 station “Workers’ settlement” has become safer: now pedestrians will be able to get to the train along the underground route. This was announced by the head of the department of investment and industrial policy of Moscow Vladislav Ovchinsky.

“In order to get to the MCD-1 Rabochiy Poselok station, many passengers need to cross the Northern understudy of Kutuzovsky Prospekt. With the opening of the pedestrian crossing under the roadway, access to the station has become quick and safe,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky.

More than 20,000 people use the MCD-1 Rabochiy Poselok station every day. The length of the new crossing is 28 meters. The entrance is located at ground level making it easily accessible to everyone. The crossing can be freely used by all categories of citizens, including people with bicycles, scooters, roller skates and other individual means of transportation.

A pedestrian crossing in an embankment is considered a more convenient format compared to a traditional underpass, said the director of New Concession Company JSC Denis Yanevsince there are no additional barriers in the form of steps and stairs.

“This transition will be free to use by people with limited mobility in wheelchairs, mothers with strollers, pensioners with bags on wheels and people with heavy suitcases who go to train stations and airports,” he explained.
