The heads of state discussed security cooperation, macro-financial support for Ukraine, increasing Ukrainian grain exports, and expanding the anti-war coalition.
As part of the ongoing dialogue, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with the President of France Emmanuel Macron – substantive negotiations lasted an hour and a half.

As noted, Zelensky informed Macron about the course of countering Russian aggression and the situation on the battlefield.
“We are waging war against a real terrorist state. Russia’s planned cynical destruction of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka is evidence of this,” the Ukrainian president stressed.
He thanked France for its strong condemnation of this crime against humanity and its willingness to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
The leaders of the states substantively discussed cooperation in the field of security. The President of Ukraine noted the decisions taken by France on the supply of new modern weapons, as well as the defensive assistance provided. The parties agreed to coordinate further actions to provide security assistance to Ukraine both by France and other international partners, in particular, to meet the urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders in modern weapons.
The issues of macro-financial support of our state and the significant role of the French Republic in this process were discussed separately.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the French side for the practical contribution to the efforts to combat Russian impunity, namely, sending a group of doctors and gendarmes to Ukraine to establish the facts of crimes committed by the Russian aggressor. In this regard, the issue of continuing the work of this group was discussed.
The presidents also paid considerable attention to the participation of France in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular, to joining the implementation of the Fast Recovery Plan.
A special place in the conversation was occupied by the topic of global food security. The practical aspects of increasing the export of Ukrainian grain were discussed.
The President of France informed in detail about the results of his tour of African countries, one of the results of which was the expansion of the anti-war coalition and the consolidation of international support for Ukraine in the face of full-scale aggression against our state by Russia.
Zelensky invited Macron to take part in the online summit of the international Crimean platform on August 23 this year.
The President of Ukraine also expressed his gratitude for the participation of the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, in the second Kiev Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen on July 23, 2022.
Russian invasion of Ukraine
As UNIAN reported, Russian troops invaded Ukraine early in the morning on February 24. Including from the territory of Belarus, which Lukashenka kindly handed over to the Russian invaders.
