Kyrgyzstan will ignore the EAEU ban on the registration of right-hand drive cars?

Despite the ban introduced as part of participation in the Eurasian Economic Union, cars with right-hand drive were illegally imported into Kyrgyzstan and registered under forged documents. This became known during a meeting of the Kyrgyz parliament.

According to available information, about a thousand of these cars are now driving on the roads of the republic.

The deputies proposed to legalize illegally imported right-hand drive cars, obliging their owners to pay 20 thousand – 30 thousand soms (13.6 thousand – 20.4 thousand rubles) to the state, at least slightly replenishing the country’s budget.

In response, the Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov stated that the government of Kyrgyzstan is ready to take such a step, even despite the ban introduced since 2015, but only under one condition.

Develop an appropriate bill. We will support him if a citizen has one right-hand drive car. If he brought in a hundred cars and sells them, then we don’t…
