Kyrgyzstan will ignore the EAEU ban on the registration of right-hand drive cars?
Despite the ban introduced as part of participation in the Eurasian Economic Union, cars with right-hand drive were illegally imported into Kyrgyzstan and registered under forged documents. This became known during a meeting of the Kyrgyz parliament.
According to available information, about a thousand of these cars are now driving on the roads of the republic.
The deputies proposed to legalize illegally imported right-hand drive cars, obliging their owners to pay 20 thousand – 30 thousand soms (13.6 thousand – 20.4 thousand rubles) to the state, at least slightly replenishing the country’s budget.
In response, the Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov stated that the government of Kyrgyzstan is ready to take such a step, even despite the ban introduced since 2015, but only under one condition.
