In winter, Ukrainians will face a serious deficit for summer vegetables and fruits.
About it told economist Alexei Kushch during the informational telethon.
“I think that a very serious period of price growth awaits us in winter, because in summer, in fact, we have seasonal vegetables, fruits, and they are relatively cheap … Summer will end and food will become worse in terms of its affordability for the general public population,” he said.
The expert noted that in winter it will be necessary to switch to greenhouse production of summer vegetables, and there are certain problems with this.
“Accordingly, if we see a shortage of gas now, then our greenhouses will not work,” Kusch added.
As UNIAN reported earlier, experts noted that due to the occupation of the South of Ukraine prices may rise on imported vegetables and fruits: tomatoes, cucumbers and varieties of stone fruits, which were imported from Turkey, Poland and the Balkan Peninsula.
