Gas supplies to Latvia stopped in April after failure Rigi pay in rubles. In mid-July, the Latvian parliament voted for a complete ban on the import of Russian fuel from January 1, 2023.

The Nord Stream gas pipeline, which serves Europe, now supplies only 20% of pre-crisis gas volumes. Russia explains these are technical problems, namely, the inability to repair turbines on time due to sanctions.
