The Turkish side is in constant contact with Ukrainian officials.
The first ship from grain will leave the Ukrainian port, probably already on August 1.
This was stated by the press secretary of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Ibrahim Kalin on the air of the TV channel Kanal7.
“The ships are ready to leave the port of Odessa. The first ship will probably leave the port on the morning of August 1,” Kalyn said.
He stated that the Turkish side is in constant contact with Ukrainian officials.
The press secretary of the Turkish President specified that the crew of the ship and all the parties involved have clear details on how the ship will leave what coordinate, when it enters international territorial waters, who will load it when it enters Turkish territorial waters.
Kalyn also noted that the war continues and this may jeopardize the implementation of the agreement.
“Unfortunately, the war continues. Ukraine correctly says: “We have ratified the agreement, but if the war goes on on different fronts, if prisoners are killed, the cargo will get stuck,” Kalyn said.
“The whole world supports the agreements reached, but this is not enough. Support is also needed in other areas. If the agreements on grain supplies are successfully implemented, it is possible that this will also contribute to the start of peace negotiations,” he said.
Kalyn also noted that after reaching this agreement, one should not relax.
“We must protect the concluded deal on grain. Our diplomatic initiatives will continue within this framework,” he stressed.
As UNIAN reported, on July 22 in Istanbul in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary General António Guterres an agreement was signed for the safe transportation of grain from the ports of Ukraine. The document was signed by representatives of Ukraine, Russia, the UN and Turkey.
