The death toll from floods in Bangladesh has risen to 68 people, the press service of the republic’s health department said.
According to her, most of the people died from drowning during floods caused by heavy rainfall, from May 17 to June 23. However, some of them died from snake bites, as well as lightning strikes. At the same time, over the past day, the department reported 24 dead and 645 injured.
It is noted that the floods also caused serious damage to civilian infrastructure and crops in Bangladesh. Part of the regions of the republic is still covered with water. The authorities note that such floods in Bangladesh have not been recorded over the past 122 years.
