Russia seeks to lift sanctions from Rosselkhozbank

At the talks on the grain deal, Russia is asking Western countries to lift sanctions restrictions on Rosselkhozbank. This is required by Moscow to facilitate the export of Russian grain, Reuters sources say.

In particular, Moscow is in favor of restoring relations with Rosselkhozbank by correspondent banks, clarifies Reuters.

Rosselkhozbank has not previously played a significant role in the food trade. These financial flows were regulated by international banks and a number of subsidiaries of Russian financial institutions in Switzerland.

What kind of reaction Russia received to this request from Western countries is not specified. However, a Reuters source at the UN confirmed that the proposal is being discussed with the EU and other parties.

At the same time, it was also previously reported that guarantees for the entry of Russian agricultural products to world markets can help extension of the “grain deal” – its terms will expire on November 19.
