A “yellow” level of terrorist threat was introduced in Sevastopol after a drone attack on the fleet headquarters

In Sevastopol, a “yellow” level of terrorist threat was introduced after a drone attacked the city headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet. About it in my Telegram channel informed Mikhail Razvozhaev, Governor of the city.

He explained that the “yellow” level is the middle level of the three existing ones. That is, the authorities will strengthen security measures in the city as much as possible, and the work of special services will be strengthened. “He [введенный режим] will not affect the ordinary life of Sevastopol residents in any way, ”the governor assured.

This measure, according to Razvozhaev, is “exclusively preventive”, and the authorities and all law enforcement agencies of the city “control the situation.”

“I urge everyone once again to remain calm, but remember that together we must be more vigilant,” Razvozhaev said.

Could the headquarters be attacked from the city itself?

Initially Senator from Crimea Olga Kovitidi said RIA Novosti that the drone attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol was carried out not from the outside, but from the territory of the city.

Sergei Tsekov, member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, also spoke RBC that the headquarters was attacked not from the territory of Ukraine, but from Sevastopol or Crimea, “because it is a self-made drone, it is unlikely that it arrived from the territory of Ukraine.” “If it had been from the territory of Ukraine, it would not have worked so effectively,” Tsekov believes. He suggested that the attack was probably carried out by citizens of Ukraine or those who support them.

Subsequently, Kovitidi refuted information about the attack from inside the city, specifying that it “is not entirely true.” “Federal services are working, an investigation is underway. The situation in Crimea is fully controlled,” she said in an interview with the agency.

Attack on headquarters

On the morning of July 31, Razvozhaev toldthat at about 6 a.m. “Ukronazis” attacked the courtyard of the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet using a drone. According to him, 6 people were injured. The press service of the fleet claims that the drone set off an improvised explosive device. Staff members were injured by fragments of windows that shattered after the explosion. For security reasons, the city has canceled all festive events in honor of Navy Day, which is celebrated annually on July 31.

After the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, official Kyiv has repeatedly said that their plans include the return of Crimea. For example, on July 19 about such intentions declared Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Volodymyr Gavrilov. The representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Vadim Skibitsky, and the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Aleksey Arestovich, threatened a possible strike on the peninsula. Skibitsky stressed that western HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) could be used to strike targets in Crimea.

At the end of June, the “yellow” mode of terrorist threat in some municipalities of Crimea extended until August 9, 2022. After the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the “yellow” level of danger was set in the regions bordering Ukraine, in particular, in the Bryansk region.
