A Ukrainian built an electric car “Tavria” with solar panels with his own hands (video)
Converting the Tavria into an electric car took six months and cost $7,000. The car accelerates to 90 km/h and is fully charged in just 2 hours.
In Kyiv, they noticed a very non-standard ZAZ-1102 “Tavria”. The car was charging from the mains, and solar panels could be seen on its roof. Photo of the unusual “Tavria” published TopJyr website.
It turned out that this “Tavria” is electric. The owner redid it 10 years ago and since then has been operating the car in the city. The car has already traveled 14,500 km without problems and withstood 600-700 charge-discharge cycles.

The purchase of a ZAZ-1102 of 2001 cost the Kiev resident $1,500, another $7,000 was invested in the car. All work took about six months.
The electric car “Tavria” is equipped with a BLDS motor with a peak power of 20 kW (27 hp) and a compact lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 6.3 kWh.

The ZAZ-1102 electric car accelerates to 90 km/h and has a power reserve of about 50 km. You can charge a car from a home 220-volt electrical network in just 2 hours.

In addition to solar panels on the roof, the electric Tavria is issued with special green numbers. In addition, it is noticeable that it does not have an exhaust pipe, and the gas tank flap is sealed with a smiley sticker.
This is far from the first ZAZ electric car – such cars have been built since the 70s, and recently in Ukraine even set up their production and sale.
Also Focus wrote that Ukrainian transferred his VAZ-2108 to firewood and saves 2000 hryvnia per month on fuel.
